Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Operator of Operations to oversee daily water and sewer and wastewater treatment plant operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety and quality standards. This role is vital in ensuring operational efficiency, maintaining high safety protocols, and fostering a productive team environment. The Lead Operator will serve as a key point of contact between district superintendent and Sanitary Board.
This position is responsible for the technical work of the Municipal Water System, Well Houses, Sanitary Collection System, Lift Stations, Wastewater Treatment Plant, District office and all facilities associated with the District.
The Lead Operators normal work also involves operational and maintenance work within the District. The Lead Operator is also required to be on call and work weekends and be available for afterhours emergencies.
Responsibilities
- Ensures the District complies with all state and federal regulations governing the water and wastewater treatment systems.
- Analyzes data on water and wastewater quality and generates reports from this data, to complete WDNR reporting requirements.
- Completes water and wastewater sampling protocol as required by the EPA and WDNR.
- Directs operators of the water and wastewater system of the proper operation and maintenance of the facilities.
- Serves as assistant Laboratory Director to maintain WDNR licensing.
- Serves as the assistant Director of the District's cross connection program.
- Assists in the preparation of the District's annual budget and capitol planning.
- Is responsible for the maintenance and repairs of all facilities and equipment.
- Complies with WDPES permit and sample/reporting protocol.
- Be available to respond to emergencies on a 24/7 basis.
- Investigates and responds to customers complaints.
- Reports directly to the Sanitary Superintendent.
Requirements
The candidate shall hold or have the ability to obtain all certifications within one year.
Currently the Lead Operator is required to be a certified Wastewater Basic Operator with subclasses: Biological Solids/Sludge Hauling, Processing and Reuse - Basic
Biological Treatment: Suspended Growth Process- Basic
Laboratory - Basic
Nutrient Removal: Total Nitrogen - Basic
Solids Separation - Basic
Municipal Water Works Certifications includes: Grades 1 Distribution and Groundwater
Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
