Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator level 2 to operate our wastewater treatment operations. This pivotal role involves overseeing the daily functions of the treatment plant, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and maintaining the highest standards of water quality. As a leader in our team, you will coordinate complex processes, supervise staff, and implement innovative solutions to optimize plant performance. Duties
- Supervise and coordinate all operations of the wastewater treatment plant, including process control, equipment maintenance, and safety protocols
- Monitor plant performance using advanced control systems such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS) to ensure optimal functioning
- Conduct data collection and analysis to identify operational trends, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements
- Oversee equipment repair, heavy equipment operation, plumbing, and mechanical maintenance to minimize downtime
- Manage water treatment processes, including chemical dosing, filtration, aeration, and sludge handling to meet regulatory standards
- Lead construction projects or upgrades within the plant infrastructure to enhance capacity or efficiency
- Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations by preparing reports, maintaining records, and conducting inspections
Skills
- Under general direction of the Public Works Superintendent, the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Class II oversees the operation and maintenance of the City’s wastewater treatment facilities.
- Extensive knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and water quality standards
- Proficiency with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS) for process automation
- Strong mechanical knowledge for equipment repair and troubleshooting complex machinery
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as tractors, trucks or cranes used in plant maintenance or construction projects
- Skilled in data collection, analysis, and basic math for process optimization and reporting purposes
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during routine inspections or repairs
- Practical understanding of plumbing systems, construction practices, and general maintenance procedures
- Excellent analysis skills to diagnose operational issues swiftly and accurately
- General maintenance of plant, systems equipment, plant buildings and grounds, lift stations, pressure mains and collection system.

Pay: $32.00 - $33.38 per hour
