About the Role
A confidential manufacturing site in South Carolina is seeking a Wastewater Process Engineer to lead process optimization and project execution across recycling, process water, and wastewater systems. This role is critical to ensuring environmental compliance, operational efficiency, and successful implementation of process upgrades in support of solar panel production.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and improve wastewater, recycling, and process water operations in compliance with corporate and regulatory standards.
- Lead process improvement initiatives and oversee contractors and vendors during construction and modification projects.
- Ensure adherence to engineering design intent and corporate specifications throughout project lifecycle.
- Conduct material balance studies, effluent sampling, and water consumption analysis to support waste minimization and recovery efforts.
- Troubleshoot chemical process issues and implement corrective actions to improve quality and reduce operating costs.
- Manage preventive maintenance programs and support equipment uptime.
- Develop engineering design packages for vendor selection and project planning.
- Support capital budgeting, project scheduling, and cost control.
- Lead startup and commissioning of new or modified processes; train operations teams including night shift crews.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet safety and environmental goals.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelorβs degree in engineering with 3β5 years of experience in chemical process improvement and manufacturing transition.
- Experience managing consultants, vendors, and contractors in chemical process design upgrades.
- Background in material handling, piping, and process control systems.
- Proven success in plant startup, hazardous material handling, and preventive maintenance.
- Strong project management skills across scope, schedule, and budget.
Required Competencies
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, engineering drawings, and BOMs across disciplines.
- Strong statistical analysis and chemical process development capabilities.
- Hands-on troubleshooting skills in mechanical and process control systems.
- Fluent in MS Office, MS Project, AutoCAD; bilingual in English and Vietnamese preferred.
- Effective communicator with ability to coordinate across shifts and vendor teams.
Travel Expectations
- International travel may be required.
- Training at other corporate sites may be necessary during plant startup.
