SUMMARY - Work involves responsibility for the efficient preventative maintenance and repair of machinery, equipment and facilities at the City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), lift stations, sanitary sewer piping system and reclaimed water distribution system. Due to the nature of the work, appropriate safety footwear must be worn at all times in designated areas. The City provides reimbursement for approved safety shoes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Operates, monitors, installs, performs preventative maintenance/repair activities and keeps records related to machinery, equipment, and facilities at the City’s WWTP, lift stations, sanitary sewer piping system and reclaimed water distributions system including but not limited to: electrical and hydraulic systems, pumps, controls, sludge-belt-press; chlorination equipment, reclaimed water distribution and sewer collection pipelines; manholes, and street excavations.
• Operates equipment utilized in the Department including, but not limited to: back hoes, bobcats, boom truck, front end loader, sewer pressure cleaner, pipeline television equipment, and sludge-press.
• Provides technical assistance in troubleshooting operational problems associated with the Utility system.
• Maintains/cleans work area, tools, machinery, equipment, vehicles and facilities.
• Maintains plant irrigation system and landscaping on occasion.
• As assigned assists with purchase requisitions; interfaces with plumbers and builders; responds to after-hours calls to repair or alleviate sewage stoppages, pump failures, well failures, etc., and determine action to be taken in event of emergencies such as machine, equipment or power failure.
• Utilizes and monitors the Collection SCADA system via mobile phone to assess system performance, respond to alerts, and support field operations. Participation in the on-call rotation is required to ensure 24/7 operational support and emergency response availability.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS - Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License and have an acceptable driving record and maintain an acceptable driving record.
Employees are required to obtain a minimum of "C" Level Certification in Sewage Collection System Operation and Maintenance from the Florida Water and Pollution Control Operator’s Association (FWPCOA), or an approved equivalent certification, within 24 months of hire or promotion.
Must maintain access to and active use of the Department’s Collection SCADA system via City-provided or approved mobile device.
