Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; associate's degree in engineering or a closely related field preferred; with five years' experience in utility maintenance or construction including two years in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices involved in the operation and maintenance of wastewater systems, wastewater line construction and repairs, flowmeter installation, and wastewater collections systems, wastewater line installation; ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications; ability to provide new ideas in materials, equipment and approaches to operation and maintenance of wastewater facilities; knowledge of plumbing principles and practices; working knowledge of CCTV inspections and considerable skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with supervisors, subordinates, and the general public.
Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required. This position is considered Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing. Must maintain personal mobile technology as a condition of employment.
Duties
Under direction, performs work of considerable difficulty assisting the Wastewater Operations Manager in coordinating the maintenance of the wastewater collections system, flowmeter installation, pump station maintenance, and data collections system. Assists Wastewater Manager in planning, coordinating and managing employees in operation and maintenance of wastewater systems; determines action to be taken in event of emergencies; instructs subordinates in repair, operation and maintenance procedures; supervises installation of new flow meters and maintenance; the repair and replacement of underground mainlines and valves; collects data. Prepares and interprets reports, reviews records to confirm accuracy of reports, work orders; assists in recruiting, disciplining, promoting and evaluating employees; assists in budget preparation; performs other work as required

Monday - Friday; 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.; includes evenings, weekends, and holidays
