The incumbent of this position performs duties related to the proper operation and maintenance of the Water Treatment Plant, reverse osmosis systems, and associated equipment.
Knowledge Skills And Abilities
Ability to read and interpret gauges and recording devices reflecting plant operations.
Ability to conduct and interpret laboratory tests.
Ability to maintain, repair, and adjust water treatment equipment.
Ability to keep records and prepare reports.
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations as related to the water treatment process.
Essential Job Functions
- Regulate chlorinators, blowers, pumps, reverse osmosis systems, chemical feeding systems, SCADA monitoring systems, and other controls.
- Monitor well controls and all campus water wells.
- Operate valves and other controls to feed chemicals into sewage and water.
- Read charts and gauges and maintain a log of plant operations during assigned shift.
- Assist in periodic maintenance work, including disassembly and repair of pumps, valves, flow-rate controllers, chemical dispensers, bar screens, collectors, and other plant equipment.
- Oil, grease, and clean equipment.
- Perform maintenance painting of machinery equipment and piping.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
Two (2) years of experience in the operation of mechanical equipment used at water plants.
Licensing and Certifications
Candidate must have a valid Mississippi Drivers License
Physical Requirements
