Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Ecology, Environmental Science, Marine Biology, Limnology, or a related field.
- No experience required.
Licenses or Certifications
- Must possess a valid state driver's license and obtain a valid Florida driver's license within thirty (30) days of hire or promotion.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducts water quality monitoring, sampling and laboratory analysis in both fresh and marine water ecosystems. Authors summarized reports conveying the findings for topics such as, water height, physical and chemical water quality, such as nutrient, pesticide and heavy metal levels.
- Conducts ecological sampling, surveys, and analyses of plant and animal communities in aquatic, wetland, and terrestrial ecosystems. Removes invasive species when found. Provides guidance on protected plants and animals. Maintains demonstration-planting areas.
- Compiles collected data and enters information into computer programs for statistical and GIS-based analysis.
- Develop tables, graphs, brochures, and various other information materials from summarized analyses.
- Performs other related duties.
