The Director of Water Services leads the Water Services Division and oversees the day-to-day operation of the Waterworks’ water treatment plants, distribution, construction backflow inspections, groundskeeping and building maintenance. The Director also oversees the in-house environmental compliance program and Laboratory. The Director’s performance is reviewed and evaluated by the General Manager according to the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the departments in the Division.
Salary: $55,000.00 - $120,000.00

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Must possess extensive knowledge of:
- Principles and industry best practices associated with the physical and chemical processes used in treatment and distribution of municipal water.
- Materials, methods, practices, and equipment used in the operation, and maintenance of water systems and process equipment.
- Maintenance requirements for water treatment equipment.
- Principles of supervision, organization, recruiting, and hiring.
- Occupational hazards of water operations.
Must have the ability to:
- Perform duties with virtually no reference to higher supervision.
- Manage multiple departmental functions in a 24/7 operations environment often requiring rapid response and resolution to emergency situations.
- Organize and coordinate field activities that are complicated and diverse.
- Communicate clearly, tactfully and persuasively in verbal and written formats to internal and external customers and elected/appointed officials.
- Analyze information quickly, draw reasoned conclusions and make sound decisions.
- Hire, train, supervise, lead, coordinate, and evaluate subordinates in diverse work activities in a manner conducive to performance, high morale, and departmental effectiveness.
- Manage difficult customers effectively and professionally
- Meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities.
EDUCATION AND LICENSING
- High School Diploma, minimum. Bachelor of Science from an accredited college or university with course work in engineering, construction, design, environmental, or related field preferred.
- TCEQ Water “B” License or greater.
- Commercial Driver’s License, Class B preferred.
EXPERIENCE
- Must have at least 8 years of management experience at a municipal water utility.
- Must have extensive experience in the operation and maintenance of treatment facilities and distributions systems.
- Must have extensive experience working with State regulatory and permitting agencies.
- Must be familiar with industrial water program requirements.
