The City of Peoria is seeking a motivated, self-directed individual to join our Wastewater Collection Team as a Wastewater Collection Operator I. This entry-level position plays a key role in the maintenance and operation of the City's wastewater collection system. Under close supervision, the Wastewater Collection Operator I is responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and performing preventative maintenance on sewer lines, manholes, and associated infrastructure throughout the city.
Duties include operating specialized equipment to clean, inspect, and repair sewer mains and laterals; responding to service calls and emergency backups; and assisting with routine inspections to identify potential issues. This position works closely with senior staff and may receive assignments from a Lead Operator or Supervisor.
Work may require participation in a rotating schedule that includes shift work, weekends, holidays, on-call duty, and emergency response.

Minimum Requirements
Education
- High school graduation or equivalency.
Experience
- No prior experience is required for this position.
Physical Demands
- A main requirement of the job is physical labor.
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid Arizona Class "A" Commercial Driver's License with Tanker and HazMat endorsements within 6 months of hire.
- Grade I Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Certification in Wastewater Collection within one year of hire.
