Under the guidance of a certified Water Services Treatment Plant Technician or Treatment Technician Senior assists in the operation and maintenance of the City's Water Treatment Facilities in a safe, effective, and efficient manner. Repairs and maintains treatment plant facilities and equipment. Incumbents in the classification are required to be on-call on a rotating basis, available to work evening and weekend shifts, and must obtain the Water Treatment Plant license. Preference is to hire staff with experience & licensing in Water Treatment Plant Operations, but trainees are also considered. Multiple vacancies available. Responsibilities vary by level (Trainee, Technician, Senior) and include operating and maintaining water treatment facilities, performing preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment, monitoring treatment processes, maintaining records, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance, participating in training and development, and using work management systems. Minimum qualifications vary by level, from high school diploma and 6 months experience for Trainee to 5 years experience for Senior. Licenses required include Texas Driver's License and appropriate TCEQ Water Treatment Plant licenses depending on level. Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting, working outdoors in various weather conditions, exposure to noise, chemicals, confined spaces, and electrical voltages up to 480V. Hiring range depends on qualifications and licensure, with hourly rates from $22.31 to $37.47.
