Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly qualified Environmental Customer Service Specialist to oversee the proper classification, transportation, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to regulatory compliance while maintaining a customer-focused approach in all aspects of service delivery. This role requires not only technical expertise in environmental waste management but also the ability to foster positive relationships with clients by ensuring their needs are met with professionalism, responsiveness, and attention to detail. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and implementation of waste management strategies that prioritize safety, environmental responsibility, and exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Waste Management: Classify, package, and coordinate the transportation of various waste types in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all waste handling and disposal activities meet environmental laws and guidelines.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of waste shipments, manifests, and disposal methods.
- Training: Provide training to staff on proper waste handling procedures and emergency response protocols.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for waste minimization and implement recycling initiatives.
- Business Strategy: Apply business acumen to develop cost-effective waste management solutions that align with organizational goals.
- Industry Collaboration: Work closely with refinery and petrochemical clients to address their unique waste management challenges.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in waste management, with a focus on transportation and disposal.
- Certifications: Strong knowledge of RCRA and DOT regulations.
- Skills: Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Business Acumen: Demonstrated ability to understand and apply basic business principles to environmental services, including cost analysis.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with refinery operations and the specific waste management needs of the petrochemical industry.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Certifications: Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or equivalent.
- Experience: Familiarity with cradle to grave operations for large quantity generators
