Essential Functions
- Under general supervision, performs duties and assists the water/wastewater staff; retrieves and delivers supplies
- Performs manual labor (e.g., mows grass, removes weeds, trims trees and shrubs, paints facility buildings and public fire hydrants)
- Performs routine maintenance on equipment and other structures, such as buildings and storage areas
- Performs general duties to aid the Administration staff, GIS Technician, and Transfer Station staff, as needed
- Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions
- Follows County policies and procedures
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance

Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid Ohio driver’s license
- Satisfactory completion of pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge and experience of general maintenance, including the use of tools and small equipment for commercial settings such as hand tools and portable power tools including physical guards, switches, lawn mowers, and power washers
- Strong interpersonal communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to maintain effective working relations with, co-workers, customers and those contacted in the course of work
- Knowledge of the proper use, care, and limitations of personal protective equipment
- Understanding of mechanical handling equipment, proper storage of materials and supplies, and general housekeeping
- Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook; ability to operate other standard office equipment, including telephones, calculators, copiers, FAX machines, etc
UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exposure to extreme temperatures and weather conditions, insects, noise, dirt, grease, vibrations, electrical, and mechanical hazards, dust and chemicals. The employee may be subject to eyestrain when plowing snow. Must possess and maintain the physical ability to perform work assignments which may require prolonged and frequent walking, climbing, balancing, pushing and pulling, lifting up to 75 pounds, carrying, shoveling, hammering, tamping, bending, stooping, crouching and sitting activities using all major muscle groups. Manual dexterity, normal vision, including color and depth perception, and hearing acuity are required to communicate with others and operate tools and equipment due to working in close proximity to heavy equipment and moving traffic. Employee must be able to work steadily, accurately and at various heights to complete work assignments.
