Desired Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
- Supplemented by six (6) month labor experience and a demonstrated ability to perform the physical and mathematical duties of the position.
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills And Abilities.
- Knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods and
procedures used in maintenance; Knowledge of intermediate level mathematical computations, including addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, decimals, ratios and percentages.
- Skilled in the operation of tools and equipment.
- Ability to learn routine operations in the collection treatment, dispersal and disposal of water/wastewater in compliance with all applicable city, state and federal rules and regulatory requirements applicable to the work; Ability to work safely; Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and other departments and the public; Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions; Ability to read and interpret readings, measurements and flow rates obtained through application of diagnostics, laboratory sampling and testing equipment; Ability to organize work, establish priorities, meet established deadlines, and follow up on assignments with a minimum of direction; Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.
Special Requirements
Valid Florida Driver's license, or ability to obtain one. Trainee will have twenty-four (24) months from hire date to obtain and maintain Drinking Water Treatment or Wastewater Treatment, Level C Operator Certification issued by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
