The
Director of Wastewater is responsible for ensuring that all aspects of DCI's wastewater program follows all local, state and federal regulations. This role requires an individual with strong wastewater compliance and pretreatment credentials, exceptional communication and leadership capabilities, and a proven ability to execute strategic initiatives that drive continuous improvement in safety and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Manage DCI's wastewater pretreatment and compliance program in a manner that ensures compliance with governmental regulations, permits and directives.
- Direct the activities of DCI's industrial pretreatment analytical laboratory programs.
- Develop documents for wastewater permit applications and regulatory reporting.
- Develop and implement compliance management systems for Federal and State discharge permits.
- Plan and develop long-term wastewater operational strategies.
- Work with operations to develop Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Plans on different types of wastewater pretreatment systems.
- Research and develop studies related to emerging pollutants (i.e. PFAS) and regulatory strategies that address these pollutants.
- Responsible for verifying that facilities are performing proper wastewater sampling, permit reviews and compliance.
- Develop and maintain wastewater discharge tracking logs.
- Responsible for trending data and performing on-site inspections to assure compliance.
- Conduct periodic review of all company wastewater permits to ensure local sites are compliant with their requirements.
- Responsible for ensuring required inspections and audits are completed on time and accurately.
- Manage investigations related to Notice of Violations (NOVs) and subsequent reporting to regulatory agencies.
- Work with site employees on maintaining environmental compliance by providing training, auditing, compliance evaluations, and facility maintenance.
- Responsible for identifying all required permits and devising a compliance plan.
Requirements
- Expert understanding of wastewater treatment systems and compliance.
- Ability to provide input on wastewater treatment plant design, including loading calculations and performance.
- Ability to interact with regulatory agencies regarding compliance issues.
- Proficient in technical writing to complete wastewater permit applications.
- 10-15 years of experience in wastewater compliance and pretreatment design.
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering, chemistry, or a related field.
- Professional Certification (PE) a plus.
- 30% Travel Required.
