General Statement of Job
Performs routine technical activities related to the inspection, cleaning, maintenance, and repair of public services systems. Operates a variety of tools, vehicles, and equipment to accomplish assignments. Interacts and communicates with departmental supervisors and leaders, personnel, and the public during daily assignments. Work usually requires maintaining close engineering tolerances.
Work is performed under close supervision with minimal latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to Wastewater Supervisor / Maintenance Supervisor or designee.
Essential Job Functions

Inspects, cleans, and maintains the city wastewater collection system and related equipment according to prescribed standards and guidelines.
Ensures proper flow of sewage to treatment plant; applies prescribed preventive maintenance techniques to prevent spills and blockages.
Maintains lift and pump stations, including but not limited to installing, checking, and cleaning electrodes, float switches, hoses, guide rails and cables, alarms, and pressure cleans wetwells.
Maintains accurate records of work in progress and completed; notes and records any deficiencies of installations and appurtenances throughout utility system.
Receives, reviews, prepares and/or submits various records and reports including work orders, safety, location and activity reports, mileage logs, diagrams, maps, and as-builts.
Operates and performs routine maintenance on a variety of equipment such as video sealing camera/vehicle, electronic sensors, diagnostic tools, plumbing and mechanic’s tools, jet rodder, jet trailer, pressure cleaner, crane, generators, and pumps.
Adheres to all City and public health and safety guidelines and protocols; performs job functions in a safe manner and reports all safety hazards per established policies and procedures.
Maintains quality communication and interaction with all City personnel, representatives from external organizations, and the public to maintain good will toward the city and to project a positive City image.
Demonstrates behaviors that support the City’s Vision and Values.
Maintains on-call work availability as assigned, to prepare for, respond to, or recover from a hurricane, tropical weather event, or other emergency to meet the city’s obligation to remain operational before, during, and after the event; duties assigned may or may not be typical of the job and are contingent upon the needs of the city and the residents because of the event.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Pay and Bargaining Status
This is a non-exempt position pursuant to the Fair Labor Standards Act and is within the blue collar bargaining unit covered by the City of Tamarac and Federation of Public Employees (FPE) collective bargaining agreement. This position is paid on an hourly basis, issued bi-weekly, and subject to overtime pay in accordance with the terms of the current City of Tamarac and FPE collective bargaining agreement.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by one (1) year of experience in water or wastewater system maintenance, irrigation systems, plumbing or stormwater maintenance; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training and/or experience.
Required Certifications and Licenses
Must possess or obtain within six (6) months of hire, a valid State of Florida “Class B” Commercial Driver License (CDL) with “N” endorsement and maintain the ability to drive a city owned vehicle per established policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
National Incident Management System (NIMS) training will be required (and sponsored) according to job duties and responsibilities.
Within one (1) year of hire, must complete Confined Space Training; within two (2) years of hire, must obtain a Wastewater Collection System Class C Certification.
