Job Description

Position Overview:

The Hydrogeologist is responsible for studying the distribution, movement, and quality of groundwater. This role involves conducting field investigations, analyzing geological and hydrological data, and developing conceptual models to assess groundwater resources and interactions with surface water systems. The Hydrogeologist provides expertise to support water resources management, aquifer sustainability assessments, and groundwater contaminant monitoring and remediation projects.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct hydrogeological investigations, including groundwater sampling, aquifer testing, and well installation oversight.
Conduct surface water quality and quantity (i.e., streamflow) sampling and monitoring of rivers, streams and wetlands as well as analyze and assess/evaluate the respective data,
Analyze groundwater flow, aquifer properties, and water quality using field data, laboratory results, and modeling software.
Prepare hydrogeological maps, cross-sections, and conceptual site models.
Assess groundwater availability, sustainability, and potential contamination risks.
Support environmental assessments, permitting, and regulatory compliance related to water resources.
Design and interpret groundwater monitoring programs for industrial, agricultural, and environmental projects.
Write technical reports, proposals, and presentations summarizing findings and recommendations.
Stay current on groundwater regulations, emerging contaminants, and best management practices for the agricultural industry.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or related field.
Professional Geologist (PG) or related licensure/certification preferred or ability to obtain.
Strong knowledge of hydrogeological principles, groundwater/surface water interactions, and contaminant transport.
Proficiency with GIS applications such as ArcPro.
Field experience with groundwater sampling, drilling oversight, aquifer testing, and monitoring well installation.
Excellent analytical, technical writing, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Strong passion to learn and excel within the profession.

Work Environment

This role typically involves both office-based work (data analysis, analytical modeling, reporting) and fieldwork (site investigations, sampling, and monitoring). Travel to project sites may be required.
